La llegada de Manuel Fraga al Ministerio de Información y Turismo en 1962 presume un punto de infl exión para la prensa española de la época fi nal del franquismo. La promulgación de la ley de Prensa en 1966 es una llegada de aire fresco que limpia la enrarecida atmósfera informativa del régimen. A partir de estos momentos los diarios españoles gozan de una cierta autonomía informativa que, sin llegar a ser una verdadera libertad de información, supone el inicio de una andadura informativa, crítica y comprometida, germen de la prensa libre y democrática de nuestros días.

In 1962 the arrival of Manuel Fraga at the Information and Tourism Ministery predicts a point of infl ection to the Spanish press in the last period of franquismo. The approval in 1966 of the Press Law is a piece of fresh air that cleans the odd informative atmosphere at that time. From that point the Spanish newspapers enjoy a certain information autonomy that, without being a complete information freedom, means the beginning of a critical and compromised informative walk, seed of the free and democratic current press.
