The incipient pressure of hydrate formation for methane and nitrogen was calculated in this work. The van der Waals
and Platteeuw theory was used for modeling the hydrate phase while the vapor-liquid equilibrium was evaluated
based on cubic equations of state, including the three parameters equations, and using Wong-Sandler mixing rules.
Predictions of incipient pressure of hydrate formation were compared to experimental values and those results where
conventional van der Waals mixing rules were applied. Our results showed no real advantage among the two mixing
rules. Harmens-Knapp-WS y Harmens-Knapp-vdW equations of state produced less errors to predict the incipient
pressure of hydrate formation for methane and nitrogen respectively.
