We conduct social surveys, using forms to 134 households. Net income of the local population was estimated by the balance between revenue and expenditure. We used the residuals of the regression to estimate variation in income between families. The local population has a low educational level, most of the families live in the region for over 15 years, and the main economic activities are cassava flour production (Manihot esculenta Crantz) and Brazilian nut extraction (Bertholletia excelsa H. & B. Lecythidaceae). The revenues generated from the monthly sale of Brazilian nuts (about US$ 115) and manioc flour (U$ 64) covered monthly expenses with basic needs and work equipment. However, the net monthly income is very low (US$ 6) over a period up to five months. The acquisition and maintenance of work equipment are the biggest expenses (U$ 36), influencing the decrease in total monthly income. The benefit transferred by Bolsa Familia, a social policy of the Brazilian Government, contributes significantly (R² = 0.63) to increase the income of local people. The inclusion of ecotourism in the locality can support the entry of revenue, complementing the local income, reducing the pressure on Brazilian nuts trees and promoting nature conservation.>>>

en: As a result of socioeconomic changes in the Mexican countryside, new production strategies are developed to reinterpret their productive potential in the contemporary world. The rupture of the binomial field-agriculture leads to a reinterpretation of the new functions of rural areas and the diversity of activities of their inhabitants. Such activities include rural tourism, based on the natural and cultural heritage of rural areas. This article was based on a case study with a qualitative approach. Ethnography and participant observation were used as tools to understand the relationship between traditional knowledge and tourist use of local resources. We conclude that the traditional knowledge of wild edible mushrooms is an intellectual capital that may be used by various indigenous communities as rural development strategy.>>>

Introducing pristine features that allow the use of cultural tourism, an assessment was developed to determine the perception of the communities surrounding Sacalaca, Quintana Roo, order to identify interest in adopting this strategy of sustainable business. The process consisted of closed questionnaires to nine neighboring communities, which identified as positive the perception of this activity as a source of employment and income generation.>>>

The island is considered as the main destination of the Mexican Caribbean cruises. The economic theories give theoretical elements for this paper, the MPC is analyzed based on: disposable income and consumption, through the relation when a low income leads to a MPC on the destiny going to be low and vice versa. This article was made based on desk work and review of documentary information, therefore the methodology is based on the indicators to the Ministry of Tourism of the state of Quintana Roo, bibliography review, and specialist shipping publications, like the Berlitz Guide. For the estimation of the MPC, it was analyzed the average expenditure, the economic benefit, and the profile of the estimated income of the visitors who up by cruise, according to the characterization of the type of shipping on the Berlitz Guide. Is observed that the MPC of the visitors who up by cruise on the destination is limited by the estimated income. In this situation, it is necessary to validate if the promoters of tourism continuing with the actual positioning strategy that has the destination, because the MPC is low and the economic benefit is limited.>>>
