Editor's Note
In the last “Editor’s Note” published in 2019 (volume 16, n. 2), we pointed out the significant changes brought to our Journal’s editorial policy. At that time, I was sharing the position of Editor with Professor Maria Cristina da Silva Schicchi, who preceded me in this simultaneously tough and pleasurable task of being editor of a Journal that has been rated A2 in 2016, by the journals’ assessment by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes, Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior).
We are pleased to announce another important change in the Journal’s editorial policy that will speed up the publishing process of approved articles. The Journal currently receives 80 articles per year, which go through at least two blind reviews. “Oculum Ensaios” publishes, in its three annual issues, a total of 30 articles, that is, 10 in each issue. As we have already announced, starting in 2020, “Oculum Ensaios” will adopt an Advanced Publishing System in which, soon after the article is approved, it is forwarded for editing and publication without having to wait for the completion of the processing of the other articles of the issue. The Advance Publication of Articles makes the publication of scientific articles agile and therefore speeds up the dissemination of the knowledge produced by their authors.
“Oculum Ensaios” Journal will now publish a single volume with approximately thirty articles annually, making its files available immediately after approval and editing. This new format requires greater dedication from the editors involved and from the invaluable and competent technical team of the Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas Publishing Center.
To mark this important change, a new Graphic Design was developed to adapt the Journal to the new publishing system.
The traditional Visual Essays, which have been in existence since the first issue of the Journal, will continue to be published in this new format. In volume 17 (2020) the Visual Essay prepared by Professor Hermano Braga Viriato de Freitas Filho, from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, will be released. Professor Hermano portrays, through drawings, the various routes he followed in different cities.
Advance Publishing of Articles, besides speeding up the release of papers submitted, will also publish articles that respond to calls from the Dossiers at a faster rate. The articles that make up the dossier will be flagged in the summary and published as soon as they are approved and the lay out completed.
We are grateful to all those who collaborate with the Journal “Oculum Ensaios”, in particular to our team of reviewers, and we encourage the reading of the articles published in our Journal. Our tradition of covering subjects with the laterality involving the field of Architecture and Urbanism will be maintained.
