		<p>The translation of knowledge generated in research to the professional practice is one of the aims of Pediatric Psychology. This area is conceived as an intersection of several knowledge fields coming from Psychology and sciences that make up the new Pediatrics, including health technology advances (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Crepaldi, Linhares, &amp; Perosa, 2006</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">McQuaid &amp; Spirito, 2012</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B7">Robert &amp; Steele, 2009</xref>). </p>
		<p>This thematic section was organized with this perspective which begins by the Luisa Barros and Klara Greffin’s paper, who are researchers in the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Lisbon. It brings a relevant contribution to Health Psychology, the use of applied technology to parental guidance in the context of health, in the area denominated e-Health (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">Eysenbach, 2001</xref>; Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, 2017). The authors present a scoping review which analyzed more than a hundred prevention and intervention programs based on technology. In Psychology, this is still an open field, especially in our country, therefore this international collaboration could contribute to the knowledge of our readers in this area. </p>
		<p>Thereafter, two papers illustrate the possibilities to study psychological intervention in pain, with application in a hospital context and in different age groups, contributing to the area of Pediatric Psychology with knowledge based on evidence (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">Melnik, Souza, &amp; Carvalho, 2014</xref>).</p>
		<p>Maria Beatriz Martins Linhares e Cláudia Maria Gaspardo’s paper (Medical Faculty of Ribeirão Preto,
 Universidade de São Paulo) presents a research program developed at the Children’s Hospital of the Universidade de São Paulo, Ribeirão Preto campus, for the study and intervention in the management of neonatal pain. Developmentally focused, the authors defined the pediatric pain and its main characteristics, analyzing the findings about the impact of pain in child development. This highly stressful condition at the beginning of life constitutes a context of toxic stress (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Dich et al., 2015</xref>; Shonkoff, Garner, Committee on Psychosocial Aspects of Child and Family Health, Committee on Early Childhood, Adoption, and Dependent Care, &amp; Section on Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, 2012). It demands not only pharmacological management of neonatal pain, but non-pharmacological management too, thus expanding the current psychological field in the hospital environment.</p>
		<p>In a research conducted with researchers from the Universidade Católica de Vitória, Universidade Católica de Campinas and the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, Christyne Gomes Toledo de Oliveira, Sônia Regina Fiorim Enumo and Kely Maria Pereira de Paula, respectively, present an intervention proposal in coping with pain in children with sickle cell disease. Mainly based on Motivational Theory of Coping, the authors developed a psychological intervention program, applied in group or individually, in schooling age children with this hereditary disease. This intervention contains a board game to promote the coping with pain, that pain which is typical of this clinical condition. The results obtained from these children’s sample, in context of outpatient care, indicate that it is a promising intervention, may be adapted to other contexts.</p>
		<p>Selection of these high quality studies to make up this thematic section is guided by the purpose to show possibilities and emphasize the necessity and importance of knowledge to support the policies and practices in child health (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Shonkoff, Radner, &amp; Foote, 2016</xref>). We expect more contributions with this perspective in Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas).</p>

		<body>
			<p>A tradução para a prática profissional do conhecimento gerado em pesquisas é um dos objetivos da área da Psicologia Pediátrica. Esta é concebida como uma intersecção de diversos campos de conhecimento advindos da Psicologia, das Ciências que compõem a nova Pediatria, incluindo os avanços das tecnologias em saúde (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">Crepaldi, Linhares, &amp; Perosa, 2006</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">McQuaid &amp; Spirito, 2012</xref>; <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B7">Robert &amp; Steele, 2009</xref>). </p>
			<p>Com esta perspectiva, foi organizada esta seção temática, que é aberta pelo artigo elaborado por Luísa Barros e Klara Greffin, pesquisadoras da Faculdade de Psicologia da Universidade de Lisboa, trazendo uma contribuição relevante na área da Psicologia da Saúde - o uso de tecnologias aplicadas para a orientação de pais no contexto de saúde -, na área denominada e-Health (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">Eysenbach, 2001</xref>; Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, 2017). As autoras apresentam um scoping review em que foram analisados mais de uma centena de programas de prevenção e intervenção baseados em tecnologias. Esse é um campo ainda aberto a estudos na área da Psicologia, especialmente em nosso país, de forma que essa colaboração internacional contribui para o conhecimento de nossos leitores. </p>
			<p>Em seguida, dois artigos ilustram possibilidades de estudos de intervenção psicológica na dor, com aplicações no contexto hospitalar e em diferentes faixas etárias, contribuindo para a área da Psicologia Pediátrica com um conhecimento baseado em evidências (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">Melnik, Souza, &amp; Carvalho, 2014</xref>).</p>
			<p>O artigo de Maria Beatriz Martins Linhares e Cláudia Maria Gaspardo (Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeirão Preto, Universidade de São Paulo) apresenta um programa de pesquisa desenvolvido no Hospital da Criança da Universidade de São Paulo, campus Ribeirão Preto, para o estudo e intervenção no manejo da dor neonatal. Com um enfoque desenvolvimentista, as autoras definem a dor pediátrica e suas principais características, analisando os achados sobre impactos da dor no desenvolvimento da criança. Essa condição altamente estressante no início da vida constitui um contexto de estresse tóxico (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">Dich et al., 2015</xref>; Shonkoff, Garner, Committee on Psychosocial Aspects of Child and Family Health, Committee on Early Childhood, Adoption, and Dependent Care, &amp; Section on Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, 2012). Exige um manejo, não somente farmacológico, mas também não farmacológico da dor neonatal, ampliando, assim, o campo de atuação do psicólogo no ambiente hospitalizar. </p>
			<p>Em pesquisa realizada com pesquisadores da Faculdade Católica de Vitória, da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas e da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, Christyne Gomes Toledo de Oliveira, Sônia Regina Fiorim Enumo e Kely Maria Pereira de Paula, respectivamente, apresentam uma proposta de intervenção no coping da dor de crianças com anemia falciforme. Com base principalmente na Teoria Motivacional do Coping, as autoras desenvolveram um programa de intervenção psicológica, aplicado em grupo ou individualmente, em crianças em idade escolar com essa doença hereditária. Essa intervenção contém um jogo de tabuleiro para promover o coping da dor, a qual é típica desse quadro clínico. Os resultados obtidos com essa amostra de crianças, no contexto de atendimento ambulatorial, indicam que é uma intervenção promissora, podendo ser adaptada para outros contextos. </p>
			<p>A seleção desses estudos de alta qualidade para compor esta seção temática se orientou pelo propósito de mostrar possibilidades e enfatizar a necessidade e importância do conhecimento subsidiar as práticas e as políticas na área da saúde da criança (<xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B9">Shonkoff, Radner, &amp; Foote, 2016</xref>). Esperamos mais contribuições com essa perspectiva na Revista Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas).</p>
