Comienza una nueva etapa para las revistas científicas colombianas, COLCIENCIAS avanza en la implementación de una nueva política de indexación y clasificación de las revistas científicas nacionales e internacionales. Una política centrada en el factor de impacto resultante de las ediciones, que ha generado controversial y que no ha sido de buen recibo en el medio académico, ya que amenaza con reducir en un alto porcentaje la producción científica nacional, cuando ya se había alcanzado un crecimiento sostenido puesto en evidencia en las estadísticas de las últimas dos décadas. Así las cosas, la investigación nacional, científica y tecnológica, enfrentan hoy grandes dificultades, agravadas por la desfinanciación de las universidades públicas, los recortes del presupuesto de COLCIENCIAS y la incertidumbre general que este nuevo escenario genera en todas las personas que han asumido, de tiempo atrás, la tarea de estudiar con disciplina y publicar los resultados de sus hallazgos y propuestas derivados de esos estudios.

Se plantea así un nuevo reto para las revistas nacionales y para sus colaboradores, consistente en mantenerse activos en esta nueva etapa de indexación y desde ya, en la Revista UIS Ingenierías, se ha asumido este desafío. Es por ello que, en esta nueva etapa, con la orientación del equipo editorial se ha procedido a implementar nuevas políticas editoriales que pretenden mejorar los procesos e incrementar favorablemente el impacto de la revista, procurando asegurar su posicionamiento dentro de las ediciones científicas nacionales de su especialidad y proyectando su ingreso a base bibliográficas internacionales.

Para ello, y desde los venideros números, se trabaja en varios frentes, a saber: reducir los tiempos de respuesta a los autores a un mes para la primera evaluación, simplificar el proceso de envío y publicación para autores y evaluadores, incrementar la visibilidad de los trabajos publicados mediante la máxima difusión entre los grupos de investigación objetivo y a través de las redes sociales, y promover la inclusión de artículos de autores internacionales, de preferencia en idioma inglés. También se adelantan tareas tendientes a captar la inclusión de artículos elaborados por autores presentes en eventos científicos nacionales e internacionales que se realicen en la región y, al mismo tiempo, ampliar la opción de incorporar aquellos trabajos que traten temas científicos regionales que, por su alta calidad tengan cabida en la plataforma de divulgación de la Revista.

Un equipo de trabajo conformado por representantes de todas las Escuelas de Ingeniería y Diseño Industrial, por la profesional Ivonne Sáenz Suárez en la tarea de gestión y con el apoyo irrestricto del Director de Investigación y Extensión de la Facultad de Ingenierías Físico-Mecánicas de la UIS, Ingeniero Heller Guillermo Sánchez y del señor Decano de la Facultad de Ingenierías Físico-Mecánicas de la UIS, Ingeniero Johann Farith Petit Suárez, profesores - investigadores de la Escuelas de Ingenierías Mecánica y Eléctrica, Electrónica y de Telecomunicaciones, respectivamente.

Entre los retos que se han asumido en esta gestión y para los cuales se cuenta con el respaldo de los artículos de los investigadores que colaboran con la publicación, se ha propuesto, en el corto plazo, postular la revista para su ingreso a las bases Redalyc y Scielo y, en el mediano plazo, a Scopus. En esta etapa coyuntural se aspira posicionar la Revista UIS Ingenierías y consolidarla para ingresar con óptimos indicadores a Scopus.

A new stage for Colombian scientific journals begins, COLCIENCIAS (Colombian Administrative Department of Science, Technology and Innovation) advances in the implementation of a new policy of indexation and classification of national and international scientific journals. A policy focused on the impact factor resulting from the issues, which has generated controversy and has not been well received in academia, as it threatens to reduce in a high percentage the national scientific production, when a sustained growth in the statistics of the last two decades have been achieved.

Thus, national, scientific and technological research are facing great difficulties today, aggravated by the lack of financing of public universities, cuts in the budget of COLCIENCIAS and the general uncertainty that this new scenario generates in all the people who have assumed, time ago, the task of studying with discipline and publishing the results of their findings and proposals derived from those studies.

This poses a new challenge for national journals and for their collaborators, which is to remain active in this new stage of indexation and from now on, the Revista UIS Ingenierías has taken on this challenge. That is why in this new stage, with the guidance of the editorial team has proceeded to implement new editorial policies that seek to improve processes and increase favorably the impact of the magazine, trying to ensure their position within the national scientific of their specialty and projecting their admission to international bibliographical bases.

To do this, and from the coming numbers, we work on several fronts, namely: reduce the response times to authors to a month for the first evaluation, simplify the process of sending and publishing for authors and evaluators, increase the visibility of the works published by means of the maximum dissemination between the objective research groups and through the social networks, and to promote the inclusion of articles of international authors, preferably in English language. Tasks are also carried out to capture the inclusion of articles produced by authors present at national and international scientific events in the region and, at the same time, expand the option of incorporating those works that deal with regional scientific issues that, due to their high in the magazine's outreach platform.

A working team made up of representatives of all Schools of Engineering and Industrial Design, by the professional Ivonne Sáenz Suárez in the management task and with the unrestricted support of the Director of Research and Extension of the Faculty of Physico-Mechanical Engineering of the UIS, Engineer Heller Guillermo Sánchez and Mr. Dean of the Faculty of Physico-Mechanical Engineering of the UIS, Engineer Johann Farith Petit Suárez, research professors of the Schools of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Electronica and of Telecommunications, respectively.

Among the challenges that have been assumed in this management and for which we have the support of the articles of the researchers who collaborate with the Journal, it has been proposed, in the short term, to postulate the journal for admission to Redalyc and Scielo and, in the medium term, to Scopus. In this conjunctural stage it is hoped to position the Revista UIS Ingenierías within the first quartile of national magazines and to consolidate a very privileged option to enter with optimal indicators to Scopus.
