The edition of this first issue of the 8th volume of {PSOCIAL} once again finds us steering through moments of crisis; on top of the multiple difficulties associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, including sanitary, economic and social dimensions, a global context involving macroeconomic, social and military conflicts is added. In this complex scenario, we are pleased to inform you that along with the Editorial Team we have continued to broaden the visibility of this journal, which in this last period has been accepted into the LILACS and EBSCO (Sociology Source Ultimate) databases.
We thank the advice of Dr. Guillermo Banzato, representative of CygnusMind in Europe, and the technical support of Redalyc in the layout of the articles through the XML-JATS Marcalyc markup tool.

Articles included in this issue
First, in the article “Knowledge on HIV-AIDS among the general population in the City of Buenos Aires and its link with social-demographic variables”, María Florencia Contigiani, Jorge Mario López Sánchez, Micaela Laurito, Albano Vergara, Nancy Lugo, and Lucas Cuenya inquire into the level of knowledge about HIV-AIDS among youth and adults of the City of Buenos Aires and its relation to social-demographic variables. According to their results, participants present a scarce level of knowledge on the difference between HIV and AID, PrEP, PEP and the intransmissibilit. of the virus through sexual contact with a someone with an undetectable viral load. On the contrary, greater knowledge was observed about the modes of transmission of the virus. These results highlight the need to carry out the prerogatives of the Integral Sexual Education Law in what concerns to the access of updates information on sexuality and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.
Next, in the article “Does psychotherapy improve the mental health of persons with borderline personality disorder and substance use disorder? A systematic review” Marta Macías-Gil, Laura Lacomba-Trejo, and Marián Pérez-Marín examine psychological treatments useful for persons with BPD and SUD. The authors conclude that a variety of therapeutic options exists that, in general, improve the symptoms associated with BPD but not SUD.
Third, in the article “Education and social determinism: some reflections from the Intergenerational Educational Mobility concept”, David Naranjo Douglas, Rodrigo Torres, and Andrés Rubio reflect on the concept of intergenerational educational mobility as a theoretical-sociological concept that allows to think about social determinism processes, along the lines of research the prolong concepts such as that of habitus. The results carry relevance for social psychology as well as for educational psychology.
Fourth, in the article "A Spanish Adaptation and Validation of the Purpose in Life Test – Short Form (PIL-SF)” Marcela Weber, Hernán Furman, and Stefan Schulenberg explore the psychometric properties of PIL-SF in Argentina. Results support that Spanish PIL-SF is adequate for measuring purpose in life in our context.
