Dear reader:

It is our pleasure to offer you our 30th issue of the journal Ingenierías of the Universidad de Medellín. As you well know, we continue with our commitment to improve the indicators so that our introduction in high-impact databases, such as Web of Science and Scopus, becomes a reality.

We keep receiving, evaluating and publishing articles from the different branches of engineering, including civil, environmental, telecommunications, systems and financial engineering, which thrive, amongst others. When making a detailed observation of our journal’s trends, we find that most of the submitted manuscripts have a greater specialization in three areas: environmental, systems and civil engineering, a fact that allows us to think about our forced specialization in the short and medium term. And which obliges the journal Ingenierías of the Universidad de Medellín, to focus on one of them, so as to approach the goal outlined and the requirements of the national system of indexing scientific journals of Colciencias. This is also a requirement of the high impact databases we want to be in.

All these realizations and the objectives achieved so far are due to our authors and collaborators who, faithful to their knowledge, continue to believe, trust and contribute with their academic exercise to the journal Ingenierías. This is what makes it possible for us to present to you the ten articles of this edition.
