I. Información a los
autores
Pensamiento Psicológico es una revista científica electrónica arbitrada por pares académicos que
constituye un espacio de diseminación de hallazgos de investigación en el campo
de la psicología básica y aplicada, y de disciplinas relacionadas con la salud
mental, el bienestar humano y la calidad de vida. Su objetivo es consolidarse
como un medio de difusión privilegiado por los académicos e investigadores de
la psicología y de disciplinas afines del ámbito nacional e internacional. Su
periodicidad es semestral y está a cargo del Sello Editorial Javeriano de la
Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali, Colombia.
La revista se
distribuye entre profesionales, técnicos, investigadores, profesores y
estudiantes de las ciencias humanas, sociales y de la salud, tanto del
continente americano como de otras partes del mundo. La revista cuenta con su
propio sitio web http://pensamientopsicologico.javerianacali.edu.co, donde
los interesados pueden tener acceso gratuito a todo su contenido
Pensamiento Psicológico está indexada en PsycINFO de la
American Psychological Association (APA),
SciELO – Colombia,
SciELO Citation Index, Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de

II. Instrucciones para
la presentación de manuscritos propuestos para publicación
Pensamiento Psicológico
tiene como objetivo primordial la publicación de artículos de investigación empírica o teórica que presenten de forma
detallada y sistemática, resultados originales de estudios finalizados. Estos
artículos son especialmente bienvenidos y deben constituir un aporte
significativo al campo de la psicología y sus relaciones con disciplinas
afines.
Los manuscritos, producto de investigación
empírica se deben dividir en los siguientes apartados correspondientes al
“Formato IMRYD” así: Introducción, Métodos, Resultados y Discusión.

Introducción: contiene el desarrollo
y los antecedentes del problema; expone claramente el problema de
investigación, así como el/los objetivos del estudio.
-
Método: se subdivide en los
apartados de: (a) Diseńo (opcional) para describir el tipo de estudio; (b)
Participantes, muestra o unidades de observación; (c) Instrumentos para
describir las técnicas de recolección de información; (d) Procedimiento y
consideraciones éticas; y (e) Análisis de datos. - Resultados: reporta de forma clara
y descriptiva los resultados del estudio.

Discusión: contiene el análisis,
interpretación y discusión de los resultados a la luz de otros referentes
conceptuales y empíricos afines o distintos al estudio en cuestión. Presenta
las limitaciones y fortalezas del estudio, así como su conclusión general.
Los artículos de investigación teórica
también denominados artículos de revisión
muestran los resultados de una investigación terminada donde se analizan,
sistematizan e integran los resultados de investigaciones publicadas o no
publicadas con el fin de dar cuenta de los avances y las tendencias de
desarrollo en un tema particular del campo de la psicología y/o de disciplinas
afines. Este tipo de artículos emplean como diseńo de investigación la
observación en retrospectiva, para sintetizar los resultados de un conjunto de
investigaciones primarias. Requieren especificar los criterios de búsqueda y
selección de las investigaciones primarias que analizan en el texto. Bajo esta
categoría se incluyen las revisiones sistemáticas como los meta-análisis,
dependiendo de si en el análisis de la información recogida en las fuentes
primarias se incluyen procesamientos estadísticos o no.
Este tipo de artículos
detallan de forma rigurosa el método empleado para la revisión y análisis de la
literatura seleccionada. Entre los elementos que deben considerarse se
encuentran: (a) los criterios empleados para la elegibilidad de los estudios,
para responder una pregunta de investigación; (b) el procedimiento de búsqueda
de este material; (c) la definición de criterios a priori para evaluar la calidad del material bibliográfico
finalmente seleccionado, así como su cumplimiento de los criterios de selección
del mencionado material; (d) descripción de las categorías de análisis que
guiaron la revisión y que responden a los objetivos del estudio; y (e) la
interpretación de los resultados extraídos de la revisión del material
seleccionado.
En esta categoría de artículos de investigación también se
incluyen los estudios con diseńos de caso
único, en los que se evidencia el rigor metodológico empleado en el
trabajo. Este rigor incluye, entre otros, el reporte del grado de control del
estudio, una referencia explícita a la evaluación repetida en el tiempo (si se
reporta una intervención, estas medidas repetidas deben tomarse antes, durante
y después de la intervención), y una descripción detallada y sistemática de
medidas objetivo y secundarias. En el análisis de datos debe indicarse el
tratamiento y procesamiento de los mismos, para responder a la pregunta de
investigación.
Documento que presenta
posiciones críticas, analíticas o interpretativas sobre los artículos
publicados en Pensamiento Psicológico,
que a juicio del Comité editorial y científico constituyen una contribución
importante a la discusión del tema por parte de la comunidad científica de
referencia. Su extensión máxima será de 10 páginas.
Pensamiento Psicológico sigue las pautas trazadas por la sexta edición del Manual de
Publicaciones de la American Psychological Association. Dichas pautas se
conocen también como “normas APA”. Pueden consultarse en el enlace: http://www.apastyle.org/manual/index.aspx. En la sección de
REFERENCIAS de este documento encuentran ejemplos específicos para adecuar esta
sección de su trabajo a las normas mencionadas.
El idioma oficial de Pensamiento Psicológico es el espańol,
no obstante, también publica artículos en inglés. En las referencias de
cualquier manuscrito, independientemente del idioma en el que se escriba, los
títulos de las fuentes bibliográficas se presentarán en su idioma original.
Tampoco se traducirán los nombres de instituciones a no ser que exista una
traducción oficial.

El
manuscrito tiene un máximo de seis autores.
-
Todos
los autores llenaron el número ORCID en la plataforma de envío.
-
Todos
los autores llenaron la información de filiación institucional en el sistema.
-
Todos
los autores firmaron la carta de presentación con resolución legible para
impresión.
-
El
manuscrito se encuentra en formato Word.
-
La
portada se ha elaborado como documento Word, aparte del manuscrito. Este
incluye: (a) título del artículo centrado y en negrita, con un máximo de 15
palabras, en espańol e inglés; (b) nombre de todos los autores. Si los autores
emplean en su firma académica sus dos apellidos, por favor únalos con un guión;
(c) filiación institucional (d) último grado de formación de cada autor; (e)
datos de contacto y financiación.

El
manuscrito tiene el siguiente formato: hoja tamańo carta, margen de 2.54 cm en
cada uno de los cuatro lados (superior, inferior, izquierda y derecha), fuente
tipográfica Times New Roman, tamańo 12, texto con doble espacio entre líneas
(incluyendo resúmenes y referencias), justificado, con retroceso de la primera
línea de cada párrafo en 1.25 cm.

El
manuscrito presenta como máximo 25 páginas incluyendo resumen (en espańol,
inglés), tablas, figuras y referencias.
-
El
manuscrito presenta titulillo (máximo 4 palabras) y numeración de las páginas
en la esquina superior derecha.
Las partes del artículo
se presentan en el siguiente orden:
-
Resumen:
máximo 200 palabras (en espańol e inglés) y debe estar estructurado así: (a)
Objetivos, (b) Método, (c) Resultados y (d) Conclusión. Los resúmenes, en
espacio doble, no deben contener citas ni abreviaturas.
Nota: Los únicos
manuscritos que no incluyen resumen son las cartas al editor.

Palabras
clave: máximo cinco (espańol e inglés). Estas palabras deben encontrarse
registradas en los tesauros que emplean las bases de datos internacionales.

Tanto
el autor como los coautores, no han sometido ni tienen otros manuscritos en
evaluación en la revista Pensamiento Psicológico, considerando el intervalo de
12 meses a partir de la última presentación.
-
El
manuscrito sometido no posee ningún elemento capaz de identificar a los autores
en cualquier parte del texto, como, por ejemplo, artículos en prensa o nombre
de la institución donde el comité de Ética en Investigación está ubicado. Para
proteger el anonimato del arbitraje científico esta información no debe figurar
en ninguna parte dentro del texto; por ello, la portada se presenta como un
documento aparte. Además, solo deben constar como autores quienes hayan
participado directamente en la investigación o en la elaboración del
manuscrito. La inclusión de otras personas como autores constituye una falta de
ética.
-
La
sección de Método incluye los
siguientes subtítulos (en negrita), en ese orden: Diseńo, Participantes,
Instrumentos, Procedimiento, que incluyen las consideraciones éticas, y
Análisis de datos.
-
Tanto
en el cuerpo del texto, como en las figuras y en las tablas, las notaciones
referentes a datos estadísticos se colocan con cursiva. Por ejemplo, símbolos
como N, n, p, M, Mdn, f, t, TE (entre
otros) deben estar en cursiva y siempre debe haber espacio entre el símbolo y
el valor al que se refiere (N = 34 y
no N=34).

Debe
hacerse uso del punto y no de la coma para los números decimales. Los decimales
menores de uno deben presentarse con un cero a la izquierda. Ejemplo: 0.99. El
número decimal debe presentarse con dos dígitos después del punto. Ejemplo:
5.94. Solo los niveles de significancia llevarán tres decimales. Ejemplo: p = 0.001

Las
conclusiones o consideraciones finales se incluyen al final de la sección
"Discusión" sin apertura de nueva sección específica para ello.
-
Todos
los autores son conscientes de que el manuscrito será sometido a revisión de
originalidad de ideas, con herramientas de detección de plagio.
La revista Pensamiento
Psicológico asume los principios y normas éticas de la declaración de Helsinki
de 1975 y sus posteriores actualizaciones, por tanto, los manuscritos deben
incluir una explicación sobre los procedimientos éticos seguidos en el trabajo
de investigación. Entre los que se
cuentan:

La
existencia de un consentimiento informado y cualquier otro documento que
responda a las orientaciones éticas que rigen la investigación en el país donde
se realiza el estudio y de acuerdo con lineamientos internacionales
•
Declaración
de aval por parte de comités de ética de la institución financiadora o
ejecutora del trabajo (de existir, número del acta o registro)
•
Privacidad
y confidencialidad de los participantes
•
Manejo
y procesamiento de los datos
•
Cumplimiento
de las leyes específicas del país donde se realizó la investigación
•
Para
estudios conducidos en Colombia los lineamientos éticos deben estar en
consonancia con la Resolución 8430 de 1993 del Ministerio de Salud
Estos lineamientos
deben quedar expuestos en el apartado Método del artículo.
Por su parte, el equipo editorial de Pensamiento
Psicológico, se compromete con la revisión de todas las consideraciones éticas
bajo la responsabilidad de los diferentes roles que participan en la gestión
editorial de publicaciones científicas, de modo que todas las partes sigan a
cabalidad las normas del proceso editorial. Con respecto a autores, se tiene en
cuenta:

Las
figuras y tablas deben insertarse en su ubicación final a lo largo del
manuscrito, con alta resolución.
-
Las
palabras figura y tabla en el texto deberán ser escritas en minúscula y
acompańada de su número al que se refieren.
-
Su
contenido debe ofrecerse en un tamańo de letra legible, preferiblemente TNR 12.
Estas ayudas visuales deben evitar duplicar los resultados presentados en el
cuerpo del texto. Cada tabla se acompańará de un título breve en su parte
superior. En el pie de la tabla debe indicar si es de autoría propia o de otro
autor; en este último caso debe ofrecer el lugar de donde se extrajo y si se
tiene autorización para su copia.

Las
citas del manuscrito se redactan de acuerdo con el manual de publicación de la
American Psychological Association (6a edición, 2010).
-
Las
autocitas (citas referentes a estudios anteriores de los propios autores y
coautores del manuscrito) se limitan a un total de tres.
-
Las
referencias del manuscrito se redactan de acuerdo con el manual de publicación
de la American Psychological Association (6Ş edición, 2010).
-
El
manuscrito presenta como mínimo 20 referencias, siendo que, de estas, por lo
menos el 40% se refiere a producciones publicadas en los últimos cinco ańos.
-
Si
se ha utilizado alguna referencia a tesis y / o disertaciones, se utilizan
solamente referencias imprescindibles y necesariamente disponibles en línea en
bases de datos institucionales o comerciales.
-
Todas
las referencias en línea incluyen su número DOI o la dirección de acceso del
documento.

autores deberán preparar su manuscrito con el formato ofrecido por la
revista.

Los
manuscritos deben enviarse a través del portal de la revista Pensamiento
Psicológico, picando sobre el enlace de envíos: http://pensamientopsicologico.javerianacali.edu.co/
§
El
manuscrito debe acompańarse de una CARTA DE PRESENTACIÓN y de una PORTADA.
Ambos formatos los encuentra en la página de la revista para su
diligenciamiento.
§
El
equipo editorial acusará recibo de su manuscrito y le informará el código de
identificación asignado al manuscrito para las comunicaciones subsiguientes con
el equipo editorial.
§
Toda
la correspondencia entre el equipo editorial y los autores se desarrolla por
correo electrónico.
El proceso de revisión
y selección de artículos se realiza siguiendo las siguientes fases.
El autor(es) envía su
manuscrito a través del portal http://pensamientopsicologico.javerianacali.edu.co/, e
inmediatamente, se le notifica la recepción y el código que le ha sido asignado
a su manuscrito dentro del sistema. De este modo, el autor puede ingresar al
sistema para hacer seguimiento al proceso que sigue su manuscrito.
El comité editorial
revisa el manuscrito a partir de los siguientes criterios: a. Calidad
científica, actualidad y oportunidad de la información
b.
Originalidad
de las ideas expuestas. Para ello, se emplean programas de detección de plagio
c.
Pertinencia
según el ámbito de Pensamiento
Psicológico
d.
Aplicabilidad
más allá del lugar de origen
e.
Seguimiento
de las normas de investigación con sujetos humanos y sobre la experimentación
con animales
f.
Coherencia
del método planteado
Después de dicha
revisión, si se considera necesario, se solicita al autor que se realicen
determinados ajustes para poder continuar con el proceso, de lo contrario, si
son ajustes mayores, se rechaza y se notifica al autor indicando las razones de
tal decisión. Esta primera fase suele realizarse en los dos primeros meses,
desde el momento de recepción del manuscrito, en el portal de la revista.
Los pares evaluadores son seleccionados a partir de su
experiencia en el tema de investigación, la publicación de artículos
científicos en revistas indexadas a nivel mundial, durante los últimos dos ańos
y se privilegia la invitación de pares externos a la entidad editora de la
revista.
A los pares evaluadores se les invita a participar en la
evaluación del artículo, enviándoles inicialmente el resumen del artículo e
indicándole una fecha aproximada para el envío de su revisión. Inicialmente, se
envía la solicitud de revisión a dos (2) pares expertos; si en un término de
una semana no han dado respuesta sobre su disponibilidad para realizar la
evaluación del manuscrito, se seleccionan nuevos pares, con quienes se procede
de igual forma.
El proceso de arbitraje que emplea la revista es doble
ciego. Además, la revisión de los manuscritos se hace respetando el derecho de
los autores, revisores y editores a la confidencialidad.
Una vez aceptada la participación de los pares
evaluadores se les envía el manuscrito completo y el formato de evaluación
correspondiente al tipo de artículo objeto de evaluación. En este mismo mensaje
se le notifica que el plazo establecido para dicha revisión es de
aproximadamente dos semanas a partir de la fecha de envío. Sin embargo, los
tiempos de revisión dependen de su disponibilidad.
Pensamiento
Psicológico cuenta con diferentes formatos de
evaluación dependiendo del tipo de manuscrito que se esté evaluando. Los
criterios de evaluación incluyen una valoración de los siguientes apartados:
título, resumen, introducción, método (tipo de estudio y características de la
muestra o participantes, instrumentos o técnicas de recolección de información,
procedimiento/información y aspectos éticos, análisis de datos), resultados,
discusión, citas y referencias (según las normas APA, sexta edición).
Al final del formato de evaluación los pares deben
indicar si consideran que el artículo es:
a. Aceptado en su presentación actual
b. Aceptado a condición de que el autor incorpore en el
texto los comentarios y recomendaciones de los pares evaluadores y del Comité
editorial
c. Rechazado
Los evaluadores también tienen posibilidad de indicar en
un apartado especial sus comentarios confidenciales, dirigidos solo al
editor.
El apoyo de los pares evaluadores en el proceso de
arbitraje es reconocido a través de la plataforma Publons.
El comité editorial de Pensamiento
Psicológico revisa las evaluaciones de los pares expertos y toma una
decisión sobre la continuación del manuscrito en el proceso editorial. En caso
de que sea aceptado, el texto pasa a la fase 6. Si se solicita la revisión del
texto por parte del (los) autor (es), para ser nuevamente evaluado por pares,
el autor(es) tendrá un plazo de 2 a 3 semanas, para enviar la nueva versión del
manuscrito. Si el manuscrito es rechazado, este finaliza su proceso editorial
con la revista.
En el caso de que un
par rechace el manuscrito y el otro no, el comité editorial evalúa la opción de
enviar a un tercer par evaluador o el mismo comité revisa nuevamente de forma
detallada el manuscrito, realiza nuevas sugerencias y remite el manuscrito al
autor(es) para su revisión y ajuste.
Una vez los autores
envían la versión revisada de su manuscrito, el comité editorial procede a
revisar la nueva versión junto con la carta que deben enviar los autores al
editor explicando uno a uno los ajustes y modificaciones realizadas al
manuscrito, a partir de las recomendaciones de los expertos. Si los autores
están en desacuerdo con alguna de las recomendaciones deben explicar los
motivos detalladamente. El comité editorial puede solicitar al autor(es) nuevas
aclaraciones o ajustes que no hayan sido suficientemente detallados en el
manuscrito. El editor se reserva el derecho de no publicar un manuscrito si los
autores no contestan a satisfacción los requerimientos planteados.
El editor revisa la
última versión enviada por los autores y toma la decisión sobre el manuscrito.
La decisión se comunica por escrito al autor corresponsal a la mayor brevedad
posible. Esta decisión puede ser:
a.
Aceptado
para publicación
b.
Rechazado
A partir de esta fase,
se inicia la edición de la versión prefinal de los manuscritos que serían
incluidos en la siguiente edición de la revista. Este proceso incluye revisión
de estilo, ajustes de tablas y figuras de acuerdo con el formato de la revista,
y revisión y verificación de referencias bibliográficas. La versión editada se
remite al autor para su aprobación.
Nota. El proceso editorial de un manuscrito se dará por
finalizado si después de dos (2) meses el autor corresponsal no responde a los
correos enviados.
Una vez el manuscrito
ha sido aceptado será editado y enviado al autor corresponsal para que apruebe
las revisiones realizadas a la versión definitiva de su manuscrito. Finalizada
la edición se envía una copia digital al autor(es) del artículo y el enlace del
número completo donde aparece su contribución.
Al enviar los artículos
a Pensamiento Psicológico, el (los)
autores aceptan que para su publicación transferirán los derechos de
reproducción y difusión de la obra a la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali,
para que su contenido pueda ser difundido como a la revista mejor le parezca.
Se entiende que las opiniones y valoraciones expresadas por
los autores en los artículos son de responsabilidad exclusiva de ellos y no
comprometen la opinión política ni científica de la revista Pensamiento Psicológico ni de la Universidad.

Objective
and Scope
Pensamiento Psicológico is a peer-reviewed electronic scientific journal which offers an
opportunity for the publication of research findings in the field of basic and
applied psychology, and disciplines related to mental health, human welfare and
the quality of life. Its aim is to strengthen the means of circulation for
national and international researchers of psychology and related disciplines.
It is published on a halfyearly basis by the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana
in Cali, Colombia.
The journal is circulated among professionals, researchers and students
of the social and health sciences, in the American continent as well as in
other parts of the world. The journal has its own website, https://revistas.javerianacali.edu.co/index.php/pensamientopsicologico, which offers free
access to all of its content.

Instructions for the presentation of manuscripts
1. Research
Articles
The primary objective of Pensamiento
Psicológico is the publication of empirical or theoretical research
articles which present original results of completed studies in a detailed and
systematic writing. Such articles are especially welcomed and should make a
significant contribution to the field of psychology and related disciplines.
The manuscripts must be divided into the following sections,
corresponding to the Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion (IMRaD)
format :
- Introduction: should include the development and background information of the problem
and a clear description of the objectives of the study.
- Method: divided in the following sections: (a) design (optional), to describe
the type of study; (b) participants, sample or units of observation; (c)
instruments to describe the techniques for
gathering information; (d) procedure, where ethical considerations must
be included, and (e) data analysis.
- Results: include a clear and descriptive report of the results of the study
- Discussion: this section includes the analysis, interpretation and discussion of the
results and compares them with other similar or different conceptual or
empirical studies, state the strenghts and weaknesses of the study, as well as
the general conclusions.
Review articles show the results of completed research in which results
of published or non-published research are analyzed, organized and compiled
with the intention of setting out the advances and tendencies in the
development of a particular topic in the field of psychology and/or related
disciplines. This type of article uses retrospective observational study, in order to
synthesize the results of primary research. They require specifying the search
and selection criteria of the primary researches analyzed in the text. Under
this category, systematic revisions and meta-analyses are included depending on
whether the analysis of the information collected in the primary sources
include statistical analysis or not.
These type of articles rigourosly details the method used for the review
and analysis of the selected literature. Among the elements that should be
included are: (a) criteria used for for choosing these studies, to answer a
research question; (b) the searching process for this material; (c) the
criteria used to evaluate the quality of the bibliographical material finally
selected, as well as its compliance of the selection criteria of the mentioned
material; (d) description of the categories of analysis that guided the review
and that respond to the objectives of the study; and (e) the interpretation of
the extracted results of the review of the material selected.
In this category of research
articles is also includded the single
case designs, where the methodological rigour used in the study is evident.
This rigour includes the report of the degree of control of the study, an
explicit reference to the repeated evaluation over time (if an intervention is
reported, these repeated measures must be taken before, during and after the
intervention), and a detailed and systematic description of targeted and
secondary measures. In the data analysis, the treatment and processing of the
data must be indicated, in order to answer the research question.
2. Letters
to the editor
Documents that presents critical, analytical and interpretative points
of view on articles published in Pensamiento
Psicológico, and which in the opinion of the Editorial and Scientific
Committee, make an important contribution to the discussion on the topic. Its maximum length is
10 pages.

APA publication style
Pensamiento Psicológico follows the guidelines established by the sixth edition of the
Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. These guidelines
can be consulted at http://www.apastyle.org/manual/index.aspx. In the Reference section of this
document, there are specific examples to adapt this section of your work with
the mentioned guidelines and the style of the journal.

Psicológico’s oficial language is Spanish,
however, papers are also published in English. The reference section of any
manuscript, regardless of the language it is written, the titles of
bibliographical sources will be presented in its original language. Nor
institution names will be translated unless there is an official translation.

maximum of 25 pages including the abstract (in Spanish and English) tables,
figures and references.

a running head (maximum 4 words) and page number in the top-right corner.
The sections of the article have the following order:

(a) Objectives, (b) Method, (c) Results, (d) Conclusion. Abstracts are written
in double space, and should not include quotes nor abbreviations.
The only manuscripts that do not include summary are the letters to the
editor.

General structure of
the manuscript

The manuscript
submitted does not have any clue of the authors identity in any part of the
text, for example articles in the press or the name of the institution in any
part of the text where the Ethics in Research committee is located. To protect
the anonymity of peer review process, this information should not appear anywhere
in the text; therefore, the cover page is presented as a separate document.
Moreover, only those who have been directly involved in the research or the
making of the manuscript should be listed as authors. The inclusion of other
people as authors is unethical.

The Method section
includes the following subtitles (in bold), in this order: design,
participants, instruments, procedure (which include ethical considerations) and
data analysis.

In the text, as well as
in figures and tables, notations referring to statistical symbols are in
itallics. For example, symbols such as N,
n, p, M, Mdn, f,
t, ES (among others) should be in itallics and there must always be a
space between the symbol and the value to which it refers (N = 34, not N=34).

Commas are used for
decimal numbers. Decimals below one must be displayed with a zero on the left,
example: 0,99. The decimal number must be presented with two digits after the
comma, example: 5,94. Only the p-values
will have three decimals, example: p

considerations were included at the end of the Discussion section without
opening a new title for it.

the manuscript will be submitted to review originality of ideas, with

Ethical principles
Pensamiento Psicológico meets the ethical norms of the Declaration of Helsinki 1975 and its
further revisions, therefore, manuscripts must include an explanation of the
ethical procedures followed in research. These include:

orientation that guide the research in the country in which the research took
place and according to international guidelines

For studies carried out
in Colombia, the ethical guidelines must be in line with Resolution 8430 of
1993 of the National Ministry of Health.

The article review and selection process is carried out in the following
phases.
Phase
1. Articles reception and initial review of the Editorial Board
The autor(s)
will send a manuscript through the portal http://pensamientopsicologico.javerianacali.edu.co/, and inmediately, authors are noted
of the receipt and the code that has been assigned to their manuscript in the
system. In this way, the author can access the system to track the process of
the manuscript.
The Editorial Board reviews the manuscript based on the following
criteria: a. Scientific quality, up to date and opportunity of the information
b. Originality of the ideas presented. For this purpose, plagiarism
detection programs are used
c. Relevance according to the field of Pensamiento
Psicológico
d. Applicability beyond the place of origin
e. Follow-up of research stadards on human subjects and on animal
experimentation
f.
Coherence
of the method proposed
After the review, if considered necessary, the author will be asked to
make specific adjustments to continue with the process, on the contrary, if
they are major adjustments, it is declined and the author is notified the
reasons for this decision. This first phase is usually done in the first two
months, from the moment of receipt of the manuscript in the journal’s portal.
Phase 2. Peer review selection
and consult
Peer reviewers are
selected based on their experience in the field of the research, the publication
of scientific papers in international journals, in the last two years and its
privileged the invitation of external peers to the journal’s editor.
Peer reviewers are invited
to participate in the evaluation of an article, initially sending them the
abstract of the article and indicating a proximate date to send its revision.
Initially, a request for review is sent to two (2) expert peers; if within a
week, there has been no response of their availability to make the review of
the manuscript, new peers are selected, with whom it is proceed in the same
way.
The arbitration process
used by the journal is double-blind. Also, the manuscripts review is done
according with authors’, reviewers and editors right to confidentiality.
Phase 3. Peer review
Once the participation of
the peer reviewers is accepted, the complete manuscript and the review format
according to the type of article under review are sent to them. In the same
message, they are notified that the time limit for the revision is approximately
two weeks from the date of mailing. However, the review time depends on their
availability.
Pensamiento Psicológico has different evaluation forms
depending on the type of manuscript being reviewed. Evaluation criteria include
an assessment of the following sections: title, abstract, introduction, method
(type of study and sample or participants characteristics, instruments or
techniques of information collection, procedure, ethical considerations, and
data/information analysis), results, discussion and citations and references
(based on APA style, 6th edition).
At the end of the review
format, peers must indicate whether they consider the paper is:
a. Accepted in its current presentation
b.
Accepted under the condition that the author will
include in the text the comments and recommendations of peer reviewers and of
the Editorial Board.
c. Rejected
Reviewers also have the
possibility to indicate in a special section, their confidential comments
addressed only to the editor.
The assistance of the peer
reviewers in the arbitration process is recognized through the Publons
platform.
Phase
4. Second review by the Editorial Board and notification to the author of the
status of its manuscript
The Editorial Board of Pensamiento
Psicológico reviews of peers comments and takes the decision to accept the
manuscript unconditionally, in which during the editorial process the paper
skips to phase 6; to request a second review of the manuscript by the author(s)
with a deadline of 2 to 3 weeks or to reject it, where the editorial process
with the manuscrips ends.
In the case where a peer denies the manuscript and the other does not,
the Editorial Board evaluates the option to send it to a third peer reviewer or
the Board itself reviews again the manuscript in detail, makes new suggestions
and refers the manuscript to the author(s) for review and adjustment.
Phase
5. Review of corrected versions by the editor and Editorial Board
Once the authors send their corrected version of the manuscript, the
Editorial Board proceeds to review the new version along with the letter the
authors must send to the editor explaining one by one the adjustments and
modifications made to the manuscript, based on the recommendations of the
experts. If the author(s) disagree with any of the recommendations they should
explain the reasons in detail. The Editorial Board can ask the autor(s) for
further explanations or modifications that have not been sufficiently detailed
in the manuscript. The editor reserves the right not to publish the manuscript
if the author do not respond to the requests made.
Phase
6. Decision by the editor and transfer of copyright
The editor reviews the last version sent by the authors and makes the
decision on the manuscript. The decision is notified in written to the
corresponding authors as soon as possible. This decision can be: a. Accepted for
publication
b. Rejected
From this phase, the editing of the preliminary version of the
manuscripts that would be included in the next edition of the journal. This
process includes proofreading, adjustment of tables and figures according to
the format of the journal, and revision and verification on bibliographic
references. The edited version is sent to the autor for approval.
Note. The editorial process of a manuscript will be finished if after two (2)
months the corresponding author does not respond to the emails sent.
Once the manuscript has been accepted, it will be edited and sent to the
author in charge of correspondence for approval of the revisions made to the
final version of the manuscript. Once the editing has finished, a copy of the
publication is sent to the corresponding author.
By sending their articles to Pensamiento
Psicológico, the author(s) accept that for their publication they will
transfer the rights of reproduction and distribution of the work to the
Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali, so their content can be diffused as the
journal sees fit.
It is understood that the opinions and evaluations
expressed by the authors in the papers are made under their sole
responsibility, and do not compromise in any way the opinion or scientific
policy of Pensamiento Psicológico or
of the Pontificia Universida Javeriana de Cali.
